It is very refreshing for me to hear about people excited about disco, italo, etc, the usual. Last week I came across this new collection called the "Cbs top 100". I was looking for a something by a group called future state and stumbled onto it. From what I can tell, which isn't much, its a count down of dance tunes of the synth, disco, italo variety, both contemporary and classic. No kinding. At one point the dj comes on and says something like, "That was kraftwerk going from number 14 all the way to number 67 falling from 15 points to 32 in just two months." What? The file is dated 2005 and Kraftwerk is in a top 100? And then there's some talks about voting. Just like MTV but with classic synth italo stuff.
You could imagine my excitment. Turns out googling "Cbs" didn't turn up many italo results. It kinda sounded familiar though. A old record label, maybe? A closer listen relveals the dj's name, Robot DJ X, so I google that instead. Bingo, "www.cbs.nu". I follow the link and then I remember what's so familiar. They are associates of Spec. At the top of the page is a gigantic link to a site called RobotDj.net. Thats the site where I learned about Robot Hustle, one of my big DJ crushes with (thats who turned us onto Front 242's "Operating Tracks"). Small world!
The site has a bunch of radio links, and RobotDJ.net has a bunch of dj sets. The radio is hit and miss so far. A little too massage at times, but intermixed with some great classics.
This just in.... CBS (Cybernetic Broadcasting System) has been replaced with Intergalactic Radio. They got these cool players, so yeah.
enjoy!
